How Singapur handles your pet

Key points

  • Singapore: the AVS import licence must now be applied for and obtained BEFORE arrival — AVS changed this on 5 August 2026 from the previous 'within 90 days of arrival'. The licence itself stays valid for 90 days from issue, costs S$50 for a personal licence, and normal service issues it two working days after a complete submission
  • A Customs In-Payment (GST) permit may also be required before arrival and is valid for 10 working days from approval
  • Quarantine follows the LICENCE type, not just the country: a pet imported on a commercial import licence serves a minimum 10 days at the Animal Quarantine Centre, while a personal import licence can qualify for home quarantine, or none at all from a Schedule II country when the pet arrives within 5 days of its owner and has lived at the owner's address for more than 6 months
  • Booking the border-control inspection at least 5 days ahead is not optional in practice: arriving without an appointment costs S$133 per hour or part thereof
