Voyager en Belgique avec son animal demande trois documents dans le bon ordre : une puce électronique, un vaccin antirabique dans la fenêtre d'attente de la destination, et un certificat sanitaire émis par les autorités. Le tableau ci-dessous détaille ce qui est requis, ce qui ne l'est pas, et d'où vient chaque règle.

Exigences conditionnelles
Ces règles ne s'appliquent qu'aux animaux ayant un historique de voyage particulier. La plupart des voyageurs peuvent les ignorer — mais si l'une vous concerne, l'omettre peut entraîner un refus d'entrée.
Pet arriving from an unlisted (non-Annex II) third country — Si votre animal a séjourné dans l'un des 111 pays à risque plus élevé au cours des 6 derniers mois :
Test sérologique antirabique (titrage): Rabies antibody titer test (FAVN or ELISA) ≥ 0.5 IU/ml. Blood drawn at least 30 days after vaccination. 3-month wait from date of satisfactory result before entry.
L'ordre des dates compte. La date d'administration du vaccin ne doit jamais précéder la date de pose ou de lecture de la puce électronique. Posez la puce en premier. Vaccinez ensuite, jamais avant. Vérifiez que le vétérinaire inscrit les deux dates dans le bon ordre sur le passeport. Une inversion invalide tout le dossier à la frontière belge.
La quarantaine à l'arrivée est de 0 jour pour un animal en règle. Aucun confinement imposé si les conditions sont respectées. Réalisez le contrôle vétérinaire dans les 10 jours précédant le départ. Contactez le poste de contrôle frontalier compétent, comme celui de l'aéroport de Liège, avant le voyage. Présentez un dossier complet pour éviter toute rétention à l'arrivée.
Questions fréquentes
Mon animal a-t-il besoin d'une puce électronique pour Belgique ? Oui. Belgique exige une puce électronique aux normes ISO, posée avant la vaccination antirabique pour être valable. Combien de temps avant le voyage le vaccin antirabique doit-il être fait pour Belgique ? Le vaccin antirabique doit prendre effet au moins 21 jours avant l'entrée, et peut être administré dès 12 semaines. Voyager avant ce délai rend la vaccination invalide à la frontière. Belgique exige-t-il un test sérologique antirabique (titrage) ? Uniquement pour les animaux en provenance d'un pays ne figurant pas sur la liste (annexe II) de l'UE. Ces animaux doivent passer un test de titrage des anticorps antirabiques dans un laboratoire agréé. Les animaux venant de l'UE ou de pays listés non. Et si mon vol est retardé au-delà de la validité du certificat sanitaire ? Si la fenêtre du certificat expire avant l'embarquement, il faudra le faire réémettre. Prévoyez 1 à 2 jours de marge entre la date du certificat et le départ pour absorber les retards mineurs. Que se passe-t-il si j'oublie un document ? À l'aéroport de destination : au mieux, une inspection prolongée le temps que vous trouviez une copie ; au pire, l'animal est mis en quarantaine ou renvoyé à l'origine à vos frais. Apportez des copies imprimées.
Le délai à respecter pour le titrage sérique antirabique est de 30 jours après la date de vaccination. Comptez ce délai avant tout déplacement. Faites réaliser le test au moins 30 jours après le vaccin contre la rage, et trois mois avant le départ. Planifiez le rendez-vous vétérinaire très en amont pour respecter cette fenêtre imposée.
