The import permit carries a lead time of 30 days. Submit the permit application at least 30 days before the intended travel date. Start the paperwork a full month out to clear processing. A dog over 6 months old also needs a heartworm disease test within the 30 days prior to leaving the United States. Book that test inside the same month.
