The health certificate is valid for only 10 days from the date of issue, which means the animal must reach Macau inside that window. It is the last document to arrange, after the import licence, and an appointment for inspection must be confirmed with IAM at least one working day before arrival at the entry port.
An appointment system operates for live-animal inspection at all entry ports, and IAM must be contacted at least one working day ahead to confirm the slot. A pet arriving without a confirmed appointment has no inspection booked, so the arrival time and the appointment are one decision, not two, and weekends push the deadline earlier.
The 10-day certificate window is where money is lost on this route: a delayed flight can expire the certificate and mean paying for a second one. The bigger cost, on the stricter branch, is time — the blood sample must be taken 30 days after vaccination and the licence can only be applied for three months later.
