Voyager vers Saint Lucia avec son animal demande trois documents dans le bon ordre : une puce électronique, un vaccin antirabique dans la fenêtre d'attente de la destination, et un certificat sanitaire émis par les autorités. La signature d'un vétérinaire privé ne suffit pas pour Sainte-Lucie : le certificat sanitaire doit porter l'aval du service vétérinaire officiel du pays de départ. Depuis les États-Unis, cela passe par l'USDA APHIS, où les vétérinaires accrédités émettent les certificats via VEHCS, l'endossement numérique étant accepté. Réservez ce rendez-vous d'endossement en même temps que l'examen clinique, car le certificat voyage avec l'animal.
Questions fréquentes
Mon animal a-t-il besoin d'une puce électronique pour Saint Lucia ? Oui. Saint Lucia exige une puce électronique aux normes ISO, posée avant la vaccination antirabique pour être valable. Et si mon vol est retardé au-delà de la validité du certificat sanitaire ? Si la fenêtre du certificat expire avant l'embarquement, il faudra le faire réémettre. Prévoyez 1 à 2 jours de marge entre la date du certificat et le départ pour absorber les retards mineurs. Que se passe-t-il si j'oublie un document ? À l'aéroport de destination : au mieux, une inspection prolongée le temps que vous trouviez une copie ; au pire, l'animal est mis en quarantaine ou renvoyé à l'origine à vos frais. Apportez des copies imprimées.
Le permis d'importation de Sainte-Lucie coûte 45 XCD et se traite en deux jours ouvrables auprès de la division vétérinaire et de l'élevage, joignable de 8h00 à 16h30. Ce montant ne couvre que le permis. Les frais de la compagnie, l'examen clinique, l'endossement et la caisse de transport restent à part : le permis est la plus petite ligne d'un budget qui se prépare tôt.
Deux documents décident si ce voyage a lieu : le permis d'importation et un certificat sanitaire endossé qui lui correspond ligne à ligne. Le reste n'est que logistique.
